Call me crazy, but I’m about to start a blog post at 9.48 on a Sunday night. This is totally breaking the rules! I should be getting some rest before the big week ahead, but the full(ish) moon has got me up and at it.
When I think about the moon, I feel like a teen wolf. Yes, I’m a big fan.
I love that even from the depths of our technology-filled human-controlled world, nature can have an effect on us from way way up there.
Not a crystal-shop loving mystic like me? Want the hard facts? Recently the BBC reported that some departments of the British police have decided to put on extra police officers on the nights of the full-moon. Ah huh!
Now, there is much debate on whether the higher rate in crime and accidents and family disputes and dog bites really can be attributed to the ‘lunar effect’ – turning us all into lunatics. But what is more accepted is that the full moon makes us more active. Hence, me here and hence, the burst of energy that makes robbers rob more, fighters fight more and dogs get angry.
Arnold Lieber, a psychologist at the University of Miami says that because the human body is nearly 80 % water, there is a strong possibility that it experiences biological tides. This leads to an emotional impact based upon the different phases of the moon.
All I know is I’m up past my bed time and I’m not going to bed till I’ve said what I came here to say, which is…
We are all creative.
We are all constantly creating, coming up with ideas and creative solutions.
And I don’t know about you, but when I really want to create something intentionally, I never really get creative until I’m sitting down doing the stuff. I hardly have an idea, not a single drop, until I get down to business.
I wish I knew this as a uni student, because I used to be a major procrastinator (weren’t we all?).
So listen up former self!
There are no flashes of inspiration as I go about my day. This only happens when I’m sitting still.
Usually I’m too busy reading and listening and watching to have any thoughts of my own. Perhaps I have one of those internet brains that we are supposed to have nowadays. I cannot hold a problem long enough in my head.
That’s the attraction of French cinema you realize. All those people with creased brows and tiny coffees, just thinking.
I, on the other hand, wonder all week if I’ll ever have anything to write a blog post about again, but then at the eleventh hour something comes up.
And that’s what I love about creativity. There’s no need to worry. The more you tap into it, the more you will know you can rely on it. This source of inspiration will be there to catch you just when you think you’re about to fall.
Now creative ones, this luna-lover is off to bed.
Question : When do you feel most creative?
